Best Grounding & Earthing Products of 2026

Grounding (or "earthing") products connect your body to the earth's electrical potential through a conductive mat, sheet, or pad plugged into the ground port of a wall outlet. They are cheap to try — most run $50 to $200 — and the cost of a bad buy is low, but build quality and coverage vary more than the marketing suggests.

We scored every grounding product in our catalog on conductive material and build, coverage area, what is included (cord, outlet tester), and price across retailers. Below are the picks, a comparison table, and the questions buyers ask most. We are also honest that the clinical evidence here is thinner than for other recovery modalities.

Scores are editorial, set with our scoring methodology. Prices are compared across retailers and updated regularly. HealthIndex may earn a commission from links on this page, which never affects our scores or picks.

Frequently asked questions

How does a grounding product actually work?

It contains conductive carbon or silver fiber connected by a cord to the ground port of a 3-prong wall outlet, which ties to a copper rod in the earth outside. Skin contact equalizes your body voltage with the Earth. A daytime mat sits under your feet or hands; a sheet or sleep mat goes on the bed for overnight contact.

Is grounding supported by science?

Small studies show improvements in sleep, HRV, and inflammation markers, but they are mostly small and often industry-funded, and no large randomized trials exist yet. The mechanism is plausible but unproven. We treat grounding as a low-cost experiment rather than an established therapy, and price it accordingly in our scoring.

Do I need a grounded outlet or an outdoor rod?

A properly grounded 3-prong outlet (standard in US homes built after about 1970) works, and most kits include an outlet tester to confirm. If your outlet is not grounded, you can run the cord to a ground rod placed in soil outside instead.

Mat, sheet, or pad — which first?

Start with a universal mat (around $50 to $60) under your desk or feet; it is the lowest commitment. If you notice a difference, step up to a Queen grounding sheet for nightly use, or a sleep mat between the fitted sheet and mattress for the largest contact area.
